This authentic Japanese restaurant is hidden away in the upstairs ghost town above Sauce brewpub & bottle shop, located in Palm Court on Lake Street.
O' Cha Cha is an Izakaya style dining experience, where they bring out the food when it's ready instead of formal courses. Operating by a family only, patience is required especially during busy times.

Drinks first! Unfortunately no Japanese beer on tap. (please fix this)
Kanpai! |
Next up is a couple of usual favourites:
Takoyaki |
Mini Okonomiyaki |
Octopus balls and seafood pancake. Yum!
For mains we went with:
Wagyu Sukiyaki |
BBQ beef with onions in a bowl of rice, miso, side dish, mini salad and a mini soymilk budding with brown sugar syrup. I like my beef fancy.
Oyakodon |
No Katusdon on the menu, so this was the next best thing. Chicken, egg and onion Jyu. Same sides as the wagyu beef set above.
Dramatic reenactment as follows:
This place is as traditional as you can get in Cairns. Check it out.
